In Poggiotondo we produce Valloni and Le Rancole, two varieties of extra virgin olive oil named after their two different areas of production. The olives are mainly hand picked in late October (Le Rancole) and early November (Valloni). Then they are crushed and pressed, if possible, in the evening of the same day of picking. The oil is stocked in stainless steel containers, then it’s packaged either in 0.10, 0.25 or 0.50 Lt bottles or 3 or 5 Lt cans. VALLONI is produced from olive trees (Moraiolo, Leccino, Pendolino and other pollinators) which are in the southern side of the estate, near the village of Marcena. It 's an oil rich in polyphenols and antioxidants, extremely fruity, with notes of herbs and vegetables. In the oil contest held in Capolona, Valloni was awarded the 1st prize in 2012 and the first prize as balanced oil in 2003 and 2005/2009. LE RANCOLE a Moraiolo monocultivar produced from the olive trees located in the northern side of the estate at the foot of Casentino Valley. It is an oil with a pleasant bitter, spicy taste and a Rancole 2007 got the "Gran Menzione " in the category fruity medium. Prolonged artichoke flavour.
